On the Kápolnapuszta between the villages of Zalakomár and Balatonmagyaród on the Kis-Balaton lake, lies a reserve for water buffalo. The buffalo are indigenous to Hungary and roam freely within the park—although visitors are to stay on a trail next to the parklands, which are protected by fencing. Various other farm animals, egrets, and horses can also be seen, but it is in fact the landscape itself that makes the visit so worthwhile. Yes, the buffalo are quite the site, but the gorgeous skies, fresh air, flora, and fields take the cake. A great visit for a lovely stroll during a lazy weekend on the Balaton.
