Andrea Szilák is now curating exhibits at Kelet Kávézó és Galéria in Budapest. Here below are some photos of pieces from her first exhibit of Ronga Eszter. The works were inspired by a sunny day on beautiful Margaret Island here in Budapest. The colors and use of space create an oddly intense yet playful perspective on the people who were walking, picnicking, and overall enjoying a warm, summer day all in their own separate little islands—bliss for just a bit.
Eszter reflected in her artist statement how she had never before been struck by such a feeling—that the people she saw seemed at once to be so "at home" in their own group and yet obviously complete strangers to those sitting just feet away. Eszter then asks if this is what art is: a few hours of sunshine to recharge? "Is art a picnic?"
